DermEffects features a team of aesthetic and medical specialists dedicated to providing excellent patient care in an inviting, caring environment. As a leading dermatologist in London, Ontario, Dr. Wei Jing Loo understands that having the support of talented and skilled staff is an important part of maintaining the practice’s established reputation for quality treatments.

Chassidy Pazitny, Esthetician & Skincare Consultant

After working as a Medical Esthetician and Laser Technician under a plastic surgeon for nearly 10 years, Chassidy joined Dr. Loo at DermEffects in early 2013. Here, she has improved her knowledge of laser technology and skin analysis.

Her wealth of knowledge continues to grow, as Chassidy remains dedicated to staying at the forefront of the aesthetic industry as new technology and skincare procedures are introduced. She stays on top of current trends in cosmetic procedures and professional-grade skin care.

When clients meet with Chassidy, they receive a customized clinical skin assessment and overall treatment plan for optimal skin health. Her clients consistently receive the highest quality of service and optimal skincare results.

Her passion for helping clients look and feel their best is sensed by everyone she works with at DermEffects.

In her spare time, she enjoys running and going to the gym and leading an active lifestyle based on total wellness and a balanced approach to life.

Christina Craig, Senior Medical Office Administrator & Clinical Research Coordinator

With more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare field, Tina’s knowledge, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task are a few of the reasons our busy DermEffects office operates with efficiency and competence. Tina joined DermEffects at the outset of the practice’s launch in 2012 and she manages the office’s daily operations. She has extensive knowledge of and comprehensive experience in medical and cosmetic dermatology and research.

Tina continues to update her knowledge and skills, ensuring the best care for patients during their visits. Tina enjoys going to the gym and needlework during her leisure time.

Nina Nissan, Medical Assistant

Nina is an international medical school graduate. She practiced as a second year radiology resident before coming to Canada, and has become increasingly passionate about dermatology since working alongside Dr. Loo. Nina is known for being a kind and caring medical assistant. She makes patients feel comfortable and takes the extra time to make sure all of their medical needs are met and questions are answered. She is multi-lingual and speaks Assyrian, Arabic, English and German.

Joanne Smith, Medical Office Administrator

In 2017, Joanne decided to pursue her long-time interested in medical office administration, after years of working in many different fields including working as a hairstylist and running her own full-service salon for 5 years. She graduated from Trios College with distinction in the Medical Office Administrative program. She worked at LHSC in pediatric neurology before coming to DermEffects. Joanne is a team leader and keeps the clinic running smoothly. She greets every patient with a friendly face and makes sure they are attended to quickly. She works hard to make sure every administrative task is attended to immediately and done properly.

In her spare time, Joanne enjoys being with her family: her husband, their 6 kids and 9 grand-kids, and of course, her two adorable dogs.

Allison Poyntz, Research Coordinator

Allison joined the DermEffects team in late 2018. Starting off in the lab, Allison has demonstrated an aptitude for research and patient care, using skills that she obtained through her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and training as a medical laboratory technician. Her innate interest in medical sciences, keen eye, and attention to detail have made Allison’s progression into the role of a clinical research coordinator seamless.

Outside of work, Allison enjoys reading, volunteering at a youth summer camp, and caring for her adopted bunnies, Chewy and Dini. She is excited by the prospects that research offers, not only improving the health status of current patients, but also contributing to the growing body of medical knowledge that will benefit patients in the future.

Alexandra Pletsch, Medical Office Administrator

Alexandra is the newest addition to the DermEffects team. She is relatively new to the heathcare field, but has previous experience working in a walk-in-clinic. She is used to working in a fast-paced environment, and still maintains a smile on her face event at the busiest of times! She is very artistic and loves to do photography in her spare time. She is currently managing DermEffects’ social media pages and brings a splash of colour and creativity to our online platforms.

Cindy Kuprenas, Registered Nurse

Cindy has recently relocated to London and joined the team at DermEffects. Cindy has been in the Cosmetic Dermatology field for many years and brings her skilled training and love of sclerotherapy with her. She has a passion for body sculpting and has been working with fat reduction and muscle toning technologies for several years. 

Cindy also specializes in laser therapy and uses several different devices for skin resurfacing, reducing sun damage, redness, pigmentation and tattoo removal.

In her spare time, Cindy enjoys cooking, reading and hiking.

Women and men from Kitchener and Cambridge travel to our practice for both aesthetic and medical skin care from our warm and knowledgeable team. Request a consultation to meet with us in person, or call our office at (519) 472-2929 to schedule an appointment.

Please note that a physician referral is required for all medical consultations and treatments. Medical consultations are a benefit of Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). Elective services offered at DermEffects are not covered by OHIP.

Dr Denise Wexler, MD, FRCPC, Dipl American Board

Dr Wexler is incredibly happy to be working part-time at DermEffects.

She is a Royal College certified dermatologist and as well has her American Boards in Dermatology.

After closing her own busy practice, she is excited to be able to work part-time and continue to help patients with their dermatological issues. She sees most medical dermatology cases as well some cosmetic dermatology services including Botox and Filler. She also is assisting Dr Loo in Clinical Trials.

In the past she has taught at Western University. She also has been involved with multiple medical organizations and did serve as President of the Canadian Dermatology Association.

Dr Wexler feels it is a gift that after so many years she can still be serving the profession and helping patients.

Rebecca Young, Study Coordinator

Rebecca has worked as a Dermatology Nurse for years. She has worked in all aspects of dermatology such as Medical, Cosmetic and Clinical Research.

She feels Clinical Research is curial in helping to develop new treatments for so many dermatological problems.

She is happy to be a small part of that process.

Malik Hooshmand, Clinical Research Coordinator

Malik is an international medical graduate. After finishing medical school, and Mas-ter of Dermatology, he practiced as a dermatologist and an associate professor for more than a decade. His passion and interest for medical field with his background in research and clinical dermatology made him a good match to join the DermEf-fects research team.

Having medical background, caring attitude, patience and attention to details, made him fit into his new role and smooth progress to be a successful clinical research coordinator.

Moreover Malik enjoys volunteering, consulting patients back home, and spending time with his family.

Lin Jawhar, Study Coordinator

Lin is completing her Doctor of Philosophy at Western University and is very passionate about research.
She has recently joined our team as a Study Coordinator to apply her exceptional knowledge and skills in research with a goal to optimise and benefit the health of patients. Lin has a background in clinical dietetics and nutrition, and she also holds a masters in Diabetes.

In her spare time, Lin enjoys traveling, cooking, learning new languages, reading, walking her dog, and playing violin and tennis.

Kirsten De Papp, Medical Office Assistant

Kirsten has been in the Medical field as a Personal Support Worker for 9 years, after taking some time off she pursued a career in Esthetics graduating from Pebec School of Esthetics in 2014.
She recently graduated with Distinction from Trios College in 2020 as a Medical Office Assistant.

Kirsten has joined our DermEffects team with a positive and friendly attitude. She is happy to greet all patients and make them feel comfortable during their time here in the clinic.

Family and friends are very important to her and spends a lot of her spare time with them.

Marcella Gonzalez, Medical Office Assistant

With more than 10 years of experience on administrative duties Marcela took the decision to go back to school for nursing.
She moved to Canada in 2019 with her daughter to start a whole new life.
She joined our team as a Medical Office Assistant using her background education and experience. She is very good at working in a fast-paced environment and multitasking. She speaks Spanish and English, and she’s using all her abilities to help our patients and make them feel comfortable.
