  • Before participating in a study, Dr. Loo or another member of the clinical research team will explain all the details about the study to patients, including any potential risks or benefits, and answer all questions.
  • Patients have as much time as necessary to decide if they want to participate.
  • Patients who decide to participate must sign a consent form. They will keep a copy of this consent form, which contains additional information about the clinical research trial.

  • Moderate to severe Psoriasis (> 10% body surface area involved)
  • Moderate to severe Atopic Dermatitis/ Eczema (> 10% body surface area involved)
  • Moderate to severe Hidradenitis Suppurativa (5 or more active lesions on 2 body sites)
  • Lichen Simplex Chronicus
  • Nodular Prurigo
  • Chronic Hand & Foot Eczema
  • Severe Alopecia Areata (>50% scalp hair loss)
  • Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria

DermEffects is currently recruiting patients for clinical trials involving psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), hidradenitis suppurativa, lichen simplex chronicus, nodular prurigo, chronic hand and foot eczema, severe alopecia areata, and chronic spontaneous urticaria. Specific eligibility criteria, such as severity thresholds, apply to each condition.

For example, psoriasis and atopic dermatitis trials require greater than 10% body surface area involvement. Hidradenitis suppurativa trials require 5 or more active lesions on 2 body sites. Alopecia areata trials require more than 50% scalp hair loss. Contact DermEffects to confirm current availability. 

Yes. Participation in clinical trials at DermEffects is entirely voluntary. If you are accepted and later decide you no longer wish to participate, you can withdraw at any time without consequence. Your right to leave a study is explained before enrolment and documented in the consent form you sign and keep.
