A Message from DermEffects
At DermEffects, the health and safety of our patients has always been our highest priority. In our 12-year history, there are no known cases of blood-borne infection in connection with DermEffects’ care.
We are aware that the Middlesex Health Unit issued a notice related to sterilization procedures for three specific procedures, which was based on visits to the DermEffects’ clinic in January.
DermEffects immediately addressed those issues and resolved them.
Our understanding is that the health unit makes these kinds of announcements as a precautionary measure and as the health unit has publicly acknowledged, the concerns that prompted its press release were immediately addressed in January, and there are no ongoing risks to patients.
We understand the concern that this kind of public health announcement can cause, however DermEffects firmly believes that the risk of any blood-borne infections is extremely remote in this case.
